Gratin Dauphinois Recipe |
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 kg of potatoes.
- a few g of garlic, powdered.
- 30 cl of cream.
- salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
- 100 g of butter.
- 1 ltr of milk.
Preparation:
Cooking: 60 minutes - For 6 People
- Peel, wash, and cut the potatoes into thin slices.
- NB: do not wash them AFTER cutting them, because starch is necessary for a correct consistency!
- Place the milk, garlic, salt, pepper, and nutmeg in a saucepan. Bring to the boil and immerse the potatoes in it and cook for 10 to 15 minutes, depending on their firmness.
- Place the potatoes in a buttered dish, cover with cream, then arrange small patches of butter. Bake in a low oven (thermostat 6) for 50 minutes to 1 hour.
Notes: A successful gratin is characterized by potatoes that have remained a little firm.
